How To Disable WiFi Auto Sleep In Nexus S?

I believe every Nexus S user encounter problem on the WiFi service in Nexus S, so do I. The WiFi auto-sleep setting is turned on by default in Nexus S. What is WiFi Auto sleep? It means your WiFi will be auto turn off in certain circumstances. By default, Nexus S WiFi will be turned off when the screen turns off. There is pros and cons on this default settings.

You can save your phone battery life when your WiFi is auto turn-off right after your screen turns off. How much you can save? I have no idea yet, probably I do not turn off my Nexus S screen frequently =)

Cons

You may miss out some important email and msg from your business partner or friends, communication breakdown. I have missed out my ebay auction. Ishh…

How to Disable WiFi Auto Sleep?

Here you go.

1. Go to Settings

2. Wireless & Networks

3. Wi-Fi Settings

4. Click Menu Button

5. Go Advanced

6. Wi-Fi Sleep Policy

7. Choose Never. (Select what you need)

 

Congratulations, your Nexus S WiFi will never sleep now….

    Great, in theory, but the setting (like a lot of other stuff) doesn't work in Gingerbead 2.3.3. As soon as the screen goes to sleep wi-fi stops. Well, not always, but usually. Gingerbread 2.3.3 is a disaster on the scale of Windows ME.

      I just do not like it auto sleep as i do not know i received new email without turning on the screen.

    Thank you F**king jesus. Whenever I put my phone in lock screen it would turn off Wi-Fi and use 3G. Which I have a terrible connection for at home. More power usage, less connection, not even receive Skype calls like seriously wtf.

    damn sleep mode maxed out my data plan. you made my day. thank you very much. completely forgot i had the additional options with the menu button. kind of a design issue.
