HTC HD2 is legend, indeed. Finally, Windows Phone 8 WP8 has been successfully ported and running on legendary HTC HD 2. Many folks expected and refused the compatibility of WP8 on HD2. The fact here today brought us that this legendary smartphone can make it. Big thanks to the Dark Forces Team (DFT) Cotulla who has successfully brought us the miracle. For your information, HTC HD2 is the only device able and success to run Windows Phone7, Windows Phone 7.5, Windows Phone 7.8, Windows Phone 8, Android, Ubuntu, Meego, and Windows Mobile OS platform. It is ridiculously amazing device.

I used back NAND android ROM on my HD2 after trying dual boot SD android and Windows 7.5 Mango. The reason behind is that there were not much choices for SD android and the update was not as fast as NAND ROM. So far, this is the best NAND ROM among all i have tried. It has smallest installation files, means it is lighter than others and it helps my batter usage to the longest among all other ROM. It is real cool. It has the lightest UI customisation and you have to make your own choices to use the widgets and some other tweaking. There is no HTC Sense in this ROM. Download it and try out the best NAND Android ROM ever for HD2.

It is fun to tweak the android OS to get what you want and make the customization. I’m using Android 2.3.7 AmericanDroid NAND HD2 CM7 which has provided the lockscreen wallpapers tweak in it. You may not know it but today i would like to let you know that. Yes, you can change your lock screen wallpaper without changing your OS wallpaper. Cool. If you are using normal Android [not CM7 version], you will not see this tweak. However, there was a post from Xda to teach how to setup lockscreen customisation in normal android os. Easy, i would say easy if you are familiar with the previous version of Windows Phone 7 + Android SD. Right now, time to have a newer Windows Phone 7.5 Mango version with Android SD. There were some additional steps to unlock your SD card before you could make a partition for your Android SD. It is cool to get both awesome OS working on HD2. Let’s see the posts after the break.

It is really headache if you have installed Windows Phone 7.5 Mango in your HD2 with WIndows Phone 7 7004 XBmod Yuki v2 Windows Phone 7.5 ROM at the very first place of the ROM build release. Why do I say so? Because once you have installed WP7.5, you micro SD card will be locked and NOT visible to Windows OS or Mac. It will be fully encrypted and locked with ONLY use of Windows Phone. If you wish to unlock it, you need a Nokia Smartphone to have low level unlock else you wont have your SD card back. To know more how to unlock your SD card and back to android after installation of WP7.5, follow steps below to review your SD card. I believe this all steps below are applicable on any genuine Windows Phone if you wish to get your SD card available for normal storage use.

The purpose to unlock the Windows Phone is to sideload any application *.xap files into your windows phone without the need of marketplace. I’m lucky because i got the activation code from Microsoft to activate my windows phone OS on HD2. If you do not have the activation code, unlock and sideload apps maybe is the best and only way to install windows phone app in your windows phone 7.5 Mango HD2 device.

I has been trying many of Android ROM as well as Windows Phone 7. I’m still trying to install Mango 7.5 in my HD2. In order to complete Mango installation, you are recommended to restore back the official stock ROM on HD2 before proceed. It is easy to restore back to WM6.5 even though you are now with Android or Windows Phone 7. Follow steps below to restore your HD2 back to stock ROM.

I tried many different ROMs on my HTC HD2, and found there were a lot of useful default installed apps in the custom ROM, etc Fancy widget, camera, clock…..However, I was not able to backup these all useful system apps by using Astro File Manager (see this post). Well, here I’m to share how to backup and restore the system apps by using some android apps.
